Context and method
Myths, inscriptions, ancient images and contemporary devotional practices are different sources. An epithet needs its language and context. Games and fiction may reinterpret the figure without documenting historical worship.
How to study and use it
Choose one symbol or epithet and identify a source in which it appears. Record translation, date and place where known. Compare an ancient representation with a modern one, noting similarities and adaptations.
Important distinctions
Current practices have their own writers and communities. A contemporary creation does not need an ancient origin to have devotional significance. The Hekate app gathers study material, symbols and references.
